A second Shake Shack will open in Spring 2015! If you missed our original post on the Winter Park location, click here. Orlando’s newest Shake Shack will be located at I-Drive 360, Orlando’s up-and-coming dining, entertainment and shopping destination.

Established in 2004 in New York City’s Madison Square Park, Shake Shack is a critically acclaimed, modern day “roadside” burger stand known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers, griddled-crisp flat-top dogs, crinkle cut fries, fresh-made frozen custard, craft beer and wine.

The I-Drive Shack’s menu will feature all the Shake Shack classics plus a selection of location-specific frozen custard concretes. As is the case with all Shacks, the I-Drive location will be constructed with recycled and sustainable materials, and feature energy-efficient kitchen equipment and lighting.

I-Drive just received yet another upgrade! We’re loving all the expansion in a once run-down super touristy area of Orlando. What other attractions and restaurants do you want to see on I-Drive?

Who wants to drink a Peppermint Mocha when it’s 90 degrees outside? Not me. Luckily Shake Shack has resolved this issue with some chillier holiday flavor. Grab a shake and cozy up by that fire, errr… sunshine this holiday season! And for more on our original review of the shack, click here.

After endless months of anticipation, Shake Shack is finally open in Winter Park! Shake Shack originated from a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park in Manhattan. The original cart was quite successful with fans lining up daily. Today, this modern “roadside” burger stand serves up burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, shakes, beer, wine and more. An instant neighborhood fixture in Manhattan, we’re thrilled they’re joining the Winter Park community.

We’re most excited about their beloved classic from the Miami Beach Shack that will now be served in Winter Park as well, the Key Lime Pie Oh My (vanilla frozen custard blended with a slice of key lime pie from Orlando’s own P is for Pie Bake Shop). Don’t let the long lines scare you, hop in the C-Line and skip the regular line for cold items!

Winter Park Shake Shack will also donate 5% of sales from the Winter’s Wonderland concrete to BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation, a local non-profit that provides year-round support for children and families in Central Florida who are facing cancer and other illnesses.

Spork got a sneak peek of Shake Shack’s food, view and creamy shakes last night. Here’s some of our favorite shots from the night. Even if you’re not crazy for burgers and french fries, Shake Shack is worth the visit for the outdoor patio complete with a fire pit, lounge chairs, ping-pong table and incredible view of Lake Killarney. Be sure to bring along your furry friend for a Pooch-ini, ShackBurger dog biscuits, peanut butter sauce and vanilla custard. See you at the Shack!

After endless months of anticipation, Shake Shack’s opening week is upon us! Shake Shack originated from a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park in Manhattan. Spork is getting a taste of Shack Shake on Tuesday and we can’t wait to share all the flavors and photos. We’re currently coveting their Key Lime Pie Oh My Concrete and Chak-cago Dog. Stay tuned for more!

Founded in 2002, Freddy’s opened their first location in Wichita, Kan., offering a unique combination of cooked-to-order steak-burgers, Chicago dogs, and frozen custard made fresh throughout the day. Recently Freddy’s has migrated down south and opened two locations throughout Orlando. In a world of over-saturated burger joints, we had to check out what makes Freddy’s unique. Different than say a Shake Shack or gourmet burgers piled high with fancy toppings, Freddy’s has done an excellent job keeping their burger simple and flavorful. Their burgers are akin to a Steak ‘n Shake’s patty, but exceptionally tastier.

In addition to their steak-burgers, Freddy’s has also added Fried Pickles and a Cookie Butter Concrete available now through June 15. Sliced pickles are breaded, fried golden and crispy on the outside, but remain tangy and crunchy on the inside.  The salty sliced pickles are the perfect alternative to french fries. To craft the Cookie Butter Concrete, vanilla frozen custard is blended with creamy cookie butter made from Belgian spice cookies. A buttery soft confection that we so enjoyed tasting alongside our burgers and deep fried pickles.

Between the burgers, fried pickles and sweet concrete we’re now fans of Freddy’s and are definitely adding this spot to our burger rotation. Freddy’s is located at 3200 South Orange Avenue and 8107 Vineland Avenue. For more information and menu details visit https://freddysusa.com.

The number of people seeking food assistance in our community continues to rise. Today, 187,940 children struggle with hunger – an 8.9 percent increase over last year. With the rising need, local organizations have stepped up to respond in ways beyond a traditional food drive. Founded in 2013, Feed the Need, is an unprecedented community-wide effort to raise funds for Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. In its inaugural year, the campaign raised $100,000 in 22 days. As part of this effort many local businesses have partnered with Feed the Need to help end hunger in our community.

Here are some ways you can help our neighbors in need during this holiday season:

Happy Hour for Hunger:

  • The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Winter Park Village to host Happy Hour for Hunger on Thursday, November 13, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Winter Park Village. The evening will include drinks and appetizers provided by Winter Park Village restaurants, plus live entertainment. Tickets are available at www.winterpark.org and at the Winter Park Welcome Center, $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Panera Bread:

  • 100% of Harvest Cookie sales sold  November 1-11 will be donated to Feed the Need.

Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine:

  • Partial proceeds from Lavas Bread sold during the campaign will benefit Feed the Need.

  • November 10 at 5:00 p.m. meet “The Fabulous Beekman Boys” and have their latest book, The Beekman 1802 Heirloom Vegetable Cookbook” signed by the authors. Part of the proceeds from the purchase of the cookbooks will support Feed the Need. Pre-order your book at www.theancientolive.com.
